Jenny & Kev planned an intimate cottage wedding with only 27 guests, at Jenny’s parents home in Prince Edward County. It was an amazing day with every type of weather condition – sunshine, rain, sun showers, rainbows, thunder and lightning.
“I am incredibly grateful to be raised by people in my life who have taught me to never stop reaching for my dreams, to have confidence in myself and never back down from a challenge. They taught me the importance of respect and loyalty, and to be sensitive and kind to others. To live a life full of laughter and have an appetite for adventure.
I feel incredibly lucky to have found all of these qualities in one person. You make me laugh everyday, and are the push I need to be the best version of me.” – Jenny’s vows from her intimate cottage wedding.
Jenny is a super talented wedding photographer and we have been lucky enough to shoot alongside her several times over the past few years. It was such a huge honour when Jenny reached out to have us shoot her engagement and wedding photos after Kev popped the question. We got even more excited when she told us about the plan: To get married in the same place they got engaged, an intimate cottage wedding surrounded by their family and closest friends. “Chateau Relaxo” as Jenny’s parents cottage home is known, sits right on the water of Lake Ontario, with a beautiful east facing view that gets the most beautiful sunrises.
Mother nature didn’t hold anything back for Jenny and Kev’s wedding, with a morning that started with sunshine, a first look that was interrupted by rain, blazing heat for the ceremony, torrential downpours and a rainbow for cocktail hour, and finishing with a thunder and lightning show throughout the reception. In that spirit, Jenny and Kev didn’t hold back the love either. They wrote their own vows, and spoke from the heart, promising continued love and support, encouragement and laughter. Their ceremony overlooking the lake brought on tears of happiness and joy, as Jenny’s speech brought on tears from laughter. Especially when she started off with the line, “Kev, I wanted to make out with you so bad on New Years in 2006”.
Just as the sun was going down, we snuck them away from their guests for a few more portraits and were treated to an amazing lightning show as the storm continued to roll in.
Congratulations again to Jenny and Kev on becoming the new Mr and Mrs. Thompson!
