20 Years | we recently celebrated two decades of doing life together! 🥂 We took a trip down to New Orleans with two close friends (who have also been together a long time). One night as we were enjoying jazz and a bottle of wine, we got to chatting about advice we’ve heard (mostly at weddings) about what makes relationships last. I love how poignantly our friend said; it’s finding the right person for you. The one you want to weather the storms with, the one who’s quirks are as endearing as they are frustrating, and who at times sees you better than you see yourself. For me, it’s also someone who continues to grow within our relationship, and individually. Who, 20 years later, I’m still falling in love with. As we wrap up our 15th year of photographing weddings, there is so much to celebrate. A finalist images in the Couple Portrait category of the @iwpotyawards, Carmen + G eloped with @whistlerelopements. They are Britannia Beach locals, and chose to hike up the mountain they view from their home to say their vows. We love that they started the hike up Goat Ridge from their front door. 9 km and 1600m of elevation later, they slipped into their wedding attire as the sun began to set over the North Shore Mountains, and in the distance, their home. One of our favourite things about hiking elopements is shooting well after the sun drops and the stars come out. We started dating at 17 & after a decade of travelling the world & building @taralillyphotography together, Steve proposed on a snowboard trip to Whistler. Such an honour to win the Grand Prize in the 2023 International Wedding Photographer of the Year Awards! This feels like a win for the whole @whistlerelopements team. We love that the intimate weddings & elopements we create in our backyard are being celebrated on an international stage. “Mikaela + Mitch held an intimate mountaintop wedding in Whistler, Canada, on the unceded territory of Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh & L̓il̓wat7úl First Nations⁣⁣⁣. We took 4×4 jeeps up to an alpine meadow, home to a number of animals including whiskey jacks. (If you’ve visited Whistler in the winter, you may have seen these small birds entertain skiers waiting in the lift line by landing on their ski poles held in the air.) Just as Mitch began his vows, a curious whiskey jack swooped in and landed directly on top of Mikaela’s head. it’s been a month of ocean sunsets. // as striking as the slashes of pinks & gold are across the sky, turning the ocean to ripples of silver; it’s the magic lingering just before the beach drops into darkness & we make our way home by the light of headlamps that I love most. November is my season for dreaming & planning. A pause between our summer wedding season & the winter season. A time to re-fill my creative cup, carving out time for the things that make me feel grounded & inspired. This year it’s looked like living in a bathing suit, quality time with friends, journaling, swimming, reading, beach walks + yoga. No set schedule, no have-tos or must-dos, just checking in with myself each morning to see how I feel & what I need. A month of following whims & chasing sunsets.

Agata + Randy // a seaplane vow renewal Ten years & two adorable kids later, Agata & Randy decided to renew their vows. Hi loves! Real talk. Big feelings. This past year has been tough. I have had some of my lowest days. It has also shown me so much beauty. It’s deepened friendships, and led to a renewed sense of purpose & belonging. I’m not sure that there is a greater feeling than to feel truly seen & accepted as you are. I’m so grateful for those who have given me that gift. It’s also been a time to pour my heart into our new business venture. Dreaming. Creating. Capturing. Sara + Lee // love love love getting to capture our friends’ weddings! We were originally supposed to be photographing Sara + Lee’s wedding on the Amalfi Coast last week, but these Whistler locals decided to keep their date & elope in our backyard instead! Growth + Change. Sometimes it happens slowly, little by little. So subtle that we keep adjusting what we deem ‘normal’ and don’t notice it happening. While other times it is abrupt. It can feel all consuming and out of our control. Something that requires a radical shift. Our bodies, our cognizance, our relationships with others. They are all in a constant state of change. It has come up in conversation a lot recently, the idea of ‘getting back to normal’. When the reality is that nothing ever goes back to anything. I think there’s beauty in that truth. Between the pandemic, the mass (albeit horrifically late) awakening to systemic racism, and unignorable environmental issues we are collectively facing -the idea of going backwards seems absurd. “We’re all just walking each other home.” -Ram Dass

Couples sessions. Make them what you want ✌️ Despite everything, it’s been pretty lovely to have the time to explore our backyard this summer. The slower pace has also given us time to really look at the life we’re building, what’s important to us & where we’re putting our energy. I love some good introspection & @whistler_steve is a good sport. This is one from a camping trip with my forever muses @paul.cameron.productions + @hillaryanne.cameron.
