As part of the Whistler Sport Legacies group, Whistler Sliding Centre weddings are unique compared to all of the other Whistler wedding venues. The Whistler Sliding Centre and the Whistler Olympic Park are both wedding venues that operate as not-for-profit organizations. All of the revenue from weddings, events and competitions is assigned back to the athletes that train and compete at the Whistler Sport Legacies facilities.

Besides being not-for-profit, which makes everyone feel good, Whistler Sliding Centre weddings are unique for a number of reasons. First, the Whistler Sliding Centre is located in the Fitzsimmons Valley on the southeast slope of Blackcomb Mountain. Its elevation provides amazing views over the valley and panoramic mountain view sunsets. Second, the venue is not in a residential area, so there isn’t a noise bylaw in effect. This means that you can get an extended permit to host your party until 2 am. Lastly, the Whistler Sliding Centre allows the couple to host their own bar, meaning you can obtain a BC Special Event permit and hire bartenders to serve alcohol that you have purchased, which can be a huge money saver when it comes to wedding planning.

Catering Whistler Cooks Catering is the main food service provided for the Whistler Sliding Centre. They are an amazing and creative culinary team, capable of creating intimate dinners for 2 up to large public events of 20,000 guests.

Wedding Planner – As the Whistler Sliding Centre is primarily a sports complex a wedding planner or decorator is recommended to help transform the space for you.

Ceremony and Reception Options

Top Start House – The Top Start House is the main wedding venue location. It consists of an indoor space that works well for cocktail hour or a seated dinner up to 80 guests. Also, it has a large paved area with panoramic views that is the best option for ceremonies with nice weather. Lastly, there is a large deck that is perfect for much larger receptions, especially if you add a large tent with seating up to 180.

Thunderbird Pavillion – Located inside the sliding track, this covered pavilion has covered space for 150 people or 120 seated, while still maintaining panoramic mountain and Whistler Village views.

Lower Sports Deck – This deck has waterfall views coming off the side of Blackcomb Mountain and is a large area that can be used for most purposes. With the right size and quantity of tents, the lower sports deck can accommodate 600 guests for a seated dinner or 800 guests for a reception.
