Whistler Skiing Wedding | Tara Lilly Photography | Georgie & Marty

Georgie and Marty, along with 17 guests made the trip to BC from Australia and the UK for their mountain top Whistler skiing wedding. Georgie wore a white ski suit, while Marty’s was navy blue. We even had time to ski a couple of runs together.

While living in Perth, Australia Georgie and Marty met at a friends barbecue party. After dating for a few months, Marty’s job in the Australian Navy took the two of them travelling all around Australia and Singapore. Fast forward to just after the proposal, Marty went to sea on a submarine crew and was out of communication for weeks, leaving Georgie to plan their Whistler skiing wedding.

“Marty went to sea just after he proposed, with no contact for several weeks. By the time he returned I had had plenty of planning time and my imagination had gone wild. We didn’t want a long engagement and we both adore skiing. Common ground was Canada, a favourite ski location. February often promises to be the best ski month so we figured we might as well tie the wedding in with some awesome powder. It was also middle ground (or nearly) for my English family and friends and Martin’s Aussie side.” – Georgie

A Whistler skiing wedding is unique in itself, but Georgie and Marty had a few more unconventional yet practical ideas.

“We ALL got ready for the ceremony together, friends, family, Georgie and Marty. We liked it that way because it was a pretty chilled way to get into a pretty big day in your life. It made logistics easier for Steve and Paul as well! Jeremy made sure our ceremony was just us, and involved our 17 guests in a really meaningful way. After the ceremony we got to ski together with Steve (photographer), Jeremy (officiant) and Paul (videographer) which felt like it extended the ceremony we loved so much. Our dinner reception, Georgie’s dress, photos in the snow and drinks afterwards were all very special and memories to be treasured but it really was the mountain-top experience that we felt was unique.” – Georgie

Having planned the entire wedding from Australia, Georgie spent a lot of time talking to and putting trust in the vendors she chose.

“We spent a lot of time choosing our team, from Steve at Tara Lilly Photography, Jeremy (Whistler Wedding Pastor), Paul (Paul Cameron Productions) and the Nita Lake events crew. Do everything you can to connect with these guys either through meetings, Skype or email.

They were happy to spend as much time as we needed in preparation to make sure we were on the same page. Steve was awesome at helping out our guests, making us feel comfortable and loosening up for those fun shots. We’d really recommend going all the way and booking Paul Cameron Productions while you’re at it. These guys work together seamlessly and were as comfortable at our low-key ski outfit ceremony as they were in 3-piece suits in the evening. They’re also hilarious. We were really happy with our highlights package which came quite quickly and of course VERY happy with the full suite we received later and will be showing off for years to come.” – Georgie

After finishing on the mountain for the day, Nita Lake Lodge hosted everyone for an intimate dinner in their Library.

” The evening was quite the winter wonderland at Nita Lake; a real woodfire, amazing food and a hefty bar bill made up of mainly rum and coke… In true Aussie style.” -Georgie

Special thanks to Jeremy Postal, The Whistler Wedding Pastor for planning an officiating such a great day. A full list of vendors and Georgie and Marty’s favourite photo can be found after the images!

Highlights #33 [ABOVE] – We really appreciate the technical mastery behind getting this shot, the snow falling was captured in a way that truly does the scene justice. We keep going back to this shot and it really helps us remember just how good our day was!” – Georgie
