Carly & Blair’s Whistler Elopement to Phantom Lake
When Carly and Blair were planning their Whistler elopement, and mentioned they wanted to take a float plane up into the mountains to get married, I was so excited! Their day couldn’t have been more perfect.
Carly & Blair might have met through work, but they fell in love in the wilderness. It was on a hike to Mystic Beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island where they first expressed their love for each other, and that feeling has grown stronger over the course of their six years and many adventures together. Whether they are hiking in the mountains, camping in Jasper, or watching their puppy chase waves in Tofino, they are happiest and most at peace when they are in the backcountry. When it came to planning their Whistler elopement, they knew they needed to find a place with that same natural feeling.
They decided they would marry in the mountains and needed to find a way to bring their parents along for the big day. Luckily, Harbour Air Seaplanes had a spectacular alpine lake tour and with a simple email, plans were in motion for an unforgettable Whistler wedding.
The weather was perfect when we took off from Green Lake on August 13, 2016. The water was calm, the sky was blue and there were only a few clouds in the sky. Our pilot Max flew so close to the mountains that we could see the mountain bikers in town for Crankworx enjoying the course. Carly and Blair were really excited to see Black Tusk, Panorama Ridge and Garibaldi Lake as they’d hiked there together in the past.
As we approached Phantom Lake, a stunning shade of aquamarine, we noticed a beautiful waterfall tumbling down into the valley below. Much to everyone’s surprise, two tents were perched on the edge of the lake. After landing and taxiing to shore, we saw two couples enjoying the sun on an adjacent beach that looked like the perfect place for the ceremony.
Fortunately the campers had a canoe they were happy to share with us so everyone could cross the river to the larger beach. Blair and Carly were married with majestic mountains behind them. It was the perfect way to celebrate their love for one another, their love of nature and the importance that family plays in their lives.
Back at Green Lake, Blair and Carly celebrated taking the plunge by jumping in the lake. What an adventure!
“Our wedding was absolutely perfect! It was even better than we could have hoped or imagined. We attribute this to two things. One, Harbour Air allowing us additional time at Phantom Lake to make our day even more special and Steve for simply making our day. From commandeering a canoe, to hooking us up with Sram hats, our day simply wouldn’t have been the same without him. Thank you so much!”
